Potentials of Social-Ecological Systems Analysis

Call for Papers

The degradation of natural systems, climate change, and continuing economic and social polarization render a range of sustainability problems more pressing and increasingly global. This conference will investigate the potentials of concepts and methods to meet these challenges and to further our understanding of earth dynamics. Contributions should explore the descriptive and explanatory power of concepts in social-ecological systems analysis, such as complexity, uncertainty, vulnerability, resilience, adaptivity and transformability with regard to sustainability issues in human/nature interactions. Analyses of different methods and tools to work from a systems perspective in integrated, transdisciplinary ways, involving a range of system stakeholders, are encouraged.

If you are interested in offering a presentation, please send your abstract (max length: 500 words) to one of the conference organizers (see contacts page).

The conference language is English.

Contributions will be published in the Human Ecology (“Edition Humanökologie”) book series by oekom publishers.
